LIVE INSPIRED
Kurt R. Sheppard, CEO
Valle del Sol
While helping build healthy families in their day-to-day work, Valle del Sol’s staff members also live inspired by building a healthy community as they give hours of their personal time to volunteer for dozens of community organizations. That spirit of helping others melds perfectly with Valle del Sol’s mission as a nonprofit behavioral health and social service agency. Just as staff members’ work spans the entire community from infants to adults to the elderly, so too does their volunteer service.
Valle del Sol CEO Kurt R. Sheppard says by volunteering, staff members have an opportunity to learn something new while inspiring positive change in the community. “I believe that people who have been given opportunities should make the most of those opportunities. Part of that includes being able to help other people who have not been given as good an opportunity.”
With a list of nearly forty different organizations that receive help from any number of the more than 100 Valle del Sol staff members, their impact is evident. “Truly, it’s a point of pride for all of us at Valle del Sol to be involved in extending our agency’s mission by way of serving others and impacting many in our community,” says Carlos Galindo-Elvira, Valle del Sol Vice President of Philanthropic & Community Relations.

As an advocate for the underserved, she feels it is her responsibility to help fellow leaders understand the most pressing issues so they can prioritize and work together to ensure the goals are met. Her dedication to the Hispanic community continues to have far-reaching effects.
