2011 PROFILES OF SUCCESS HONOREES ANNOUNCED
PHOENIX, ARIZONA—Valle del Sol, a nonprofit organization, announces the award honorees for their annual event, the Profiles of Success Hispanic Leadership Awards Celebration, taking place on September 9, 2011, at the Phoenix Convention Center. Profiles of Success is Valle del Sol’s major fundraiser to benefit behavioral health, human service and leadership development programs for the community. Profiles of Success launches the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month in Arizona and recognizes the many contributions of leaders for their advocacy, leadership and service to community. The premier sponsors for 2011 is APS.
“We are honored to serve as the Premier Sponsor for this year’s Profiles of Success event which enables Valle del Sol to continue helping thousands of families achieve better lives,” said David Hansen, APS Vice President of Fossil Operations and board member of Valle del Sol.
The honorees selected for the Hall of Fame Award are retired physician Jose Gabriel López, M.D. and David Luna, former director with in the Mesa Public School District. U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona Dennis K. Burke will be awarded with the Special Recognition Award. For the Raúl Yzaguirre Community Leadership Award, community leader and marketing firm executive, Lisa Urias is the honoree. In the category of Exemplary Leadership, three individuals have been named: Eufemia Amabisca, Ed.D, faculty member with South Mountain Community College; María Manríquez, M.D., physician with Maricopa Integrated Health System; and John Morales, executive director of the Yuma Private Industry Council. Honorable Rebecca Ríos, former state senator, will receive the Rosa Carrillo Torres Humanitarian Award. Being recognized with the Manuel Ortega Youth Leadership Award is Daniel Hernández, Jr., intern with Congresswoman Gabriel Giffords’ office. The Molera Álvarez Group, Phoenix business development and consulting firm, will be honored with the Lorraine Lee Latino Advocacy Champion Award. For the Latino Excellence in Arts & Literature Award, ErLinda Torres, co-founder of the Arizona Latino Arts and Cultural Center, will be the recipient. The honoree for the Latino Excellence in Health & Sciences Award is Anabell Castro Thompson, MSN, RN, NP-C, nurse practitioner and Hispanic community liaison at Hospice of the Valley. For the annual APS Peacemaker Award, David J. Bodney, attorney with Steptoe & Johnson LLP.
